The Secret Circle relata la historia de una joven de 16 años llamada Cassie (Brittany Robertson) que deja su vida en California luego de sufrir allí una tragedia y se instala en New Salem junto a su madre. Allí descubrirá no solo que existen personas con poderes extraños, sino también que ella es una más de ese grupo.

 Además de Robertson (Scream 4, Dan in Real Life), esta serie cuenta con las actuaciones de Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Shelley Hennig (Days of Our Lives) y Phoebe Tonkin (Tomorrow, When the War Began). La historia se basa en una serie de libros de L.J. Smith, la autora de The Vampire Diaries, y, de hecho, se emitirá luego de esta serie, por The CW.
